I am heading to Powell Wed. morning through the weekend. We will be staying in the BUllfrog bay area. For a couple of nights, I will be staying in the covered slips at the Bullfrog marina on a houseboat before we head out. Can you fish from the slips? I thought I read a post about night fishing from the docks? If so, what should I use and how should I fsh it. I have always been able to catch the catfish and carp. I have caught a few stripers and small mouth but would love to catch a bunch of them. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. I have read up on waynes words and other posts but thought you guys could help me out to. Thanks

You can ask questions, but I would suggest that you read the current Fish Report, Anglers Corner, and Tips. Then ask your questions on the Fishing Forum. Yes you can fish from the docks, use a piece of chovie on a 3/4 to 1 once jig head any color and drop it as fast as you can to the bottom then reel up a couple feet and you should nail the stripers that way all night. The reason to use such a big jib head is to get past the smaller stripers. make sure your useing at least 10 lbs test or better. If a foot or 2 from the bottom doesn’t work reel it up 5 ft every 10 min or so. Lat time i was there i couldn’t keep them off and ran out of chovie’s

I was down there in may and i threw out chubs .I hooked something huge at night and my guess it was over 20 lbs. I was using 15 lb test and this fish was abusing me.I even had to get in my boat and chase this fish for a bit till he got into some structure. You never know what might bite at night so go heavy with your fishing line.Also there were stripers and cats taking the chubs.Chubs and red shiners are cheaper if you catch your own and take them with you.The stripers are starving and will eat anything.
