We hit the sandy beach area of Utah Lake on the 14th at about 7 p.m. The bite was on! We were getting hits on both worms and chub meat every ten minutes or so, but for some reason we were having a hard time keeping the fish on our hooks. My buddy ended landing the biggest cat i’ve seen out of there and I’ve caught some big ones. The head on it was just massive, but the body was pretty skinny. The rough measurement was about 30" and we figure he was about ten pounds or so. Once it got dark the bite slowed down and the channels stopped playing and the muds moved in. We couldn’t keep those stupid things off! Any suggestions? I even put a huge hook on and those little rascals would still swallow the hook. Hate em! They’re like a disease!
With my other pole I was jigging the reed line, I didn’t catch anything but I did have one BIG hit on a gree 3" tube jig. Any advice on consistently catching LMB? I’ve caught LMB in the same place each year but it only happens like once a year. Anyways enjoy the pics.
