Went to salem pond to try out that new berkley corn bait on friday to see if it really works. Got to the pond at about 11 am, cast out and sat my pole down to help my sis set up. Got about 5 feet and BENDO. I had no idea salem pond had anything over 12" in it. I have caught quite a few trout and cats out of there that I thought were decent for a community pond, but none of them attacked my line like this bad boy. I was using a light action with 4’ test, and my line started zinging out of the reel. Got the drag adjusted and put some shoulder into him, and he gave in. Course I put him back hoping someone’s kid will luck into him over the weekend, but he’ll probably go home with one of the larger groups of folks who tend to keep everything they catch. Hope not, but here’s a pic.

I’ve never had much luck in those ponds. I’ve caught fish off and on, but never very consistently. I do like it when one of my girls hooks into a stocker catfish though, that’s a lot of fun.
