Late Report Willard Bay 8-6-05 AM

Well my son and I were going to go to Pineview to chase Musky, but decieded to try Willard instead. Launched at 7:00am and saw Petty and Bearclaw launching their boat . I think that I saw HA69's new rig out by the West Dike , but wasn't sure it was him.
Started out by the Feedlot with no results , so we headed over to the Island as there were a lot of boats in that area. On the way , we picked up a nice Walleye and released it. The Boats at the Island disappered so we went out to the Lightpole. We were staying in 23-25 feet of water all of the way as we got about 200 hundred yards of the lightpole I saw a lot of Egrets dive bombing the water, so I made a sharp turn and in the process I tangled my son's line around the main motor prop. After shutting everything down, I was able to untangle the mess with no problems and was going to continue when Ii noticed that we had drifted into the area that the birds were diving into.
I put on a large castmaster and started casting . man oh man, we hit the Mother load. We were casting for a half an hour and caught 15 Wipers . All in about 18-19-inches not sure of pounds. Released 4 dinks and kept 10 to feed the family . What a day we had, double hook-ups everytime.

Anyway we had our best day on Willard ever.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for the report. I hope you didn’t eat that little dink shad! Aren’t they illegal to posess!:face_with_tongue:

Dan, you must live a charmed life. Had it been me I would have lost lots of line and the lure around the prop, and I would have drifted into the rocks.

OK Dan … that’s it … I got ta go fish Willard.

Kent, I don't know much about the charmed life part, but I do know that I was Damned lucky with that line around the prop thing. It just didn't wrap around as bad as I had thought .

Way to go Dan . Nice report . I was there out on the west dike for a spell . You did better than us , but we had a great time trying .

Hey Randy, did your new boat run alright? Just wondering, you know those new boat bugs and all?

After trolling for a while it seem to give me fits for a spell . I think I just flooded it . I do need to get me a trolling motor to troll with . Not to pleased with the electric trolling motors and batteries . They just don’t last long enough for me . But I want to jig more than anything anyway . My son likes to troll . I think it is less work for him .
