Lake Powell April 24-29

Spent the week at Powell. Launched out of Wahweap. Did most of our fishing in Last Chance, West Canyon, Rock Creek, and Dove Creek. The weather on Monday and Tuesday was fantastic. Wednesday had 60 mph winds that blew us off the lake in the afternoon. Thursday and Friday were cold and temps were high 50’s to low 60’s and cooled the water down quite a bit but the fishing was consistently awesome! Most fish were caught on watermelon double tails, hula grubs and senkos.

One pound smallmouth were a dime-a-dozen. Caught several largemouth up to 3 lbs. Didn’t really target stripers, but came across a few while tossing jigs. I couldn’t buy a crappie for the life of me. I hooked into one who flipped off before I could get it into the boat. Last year I caught a lot more for some reason on the same jigs I used this year.

All in all it was a great trip. 30-40 fish per day. Good friends, great fishing. Looking forward to getting down there again.
