Took off work today for a long weekend. Hit the lake with the floattube at 33 hole at 5am. Started going south and was hit on the flyrod within the first 5 minutes by a 1 lb striper. Got another a couple minutes later, same size. Went to another couple of coves for two more smaller stripers. Continued further south and finally got a 2lb largemouth bass on a 3" Gulp minow grub. Then went around an island and caught another 2lb largemouth and then a 1.5lb striper again on the minnow grub. I kept the largemouths to contribute to the family feast for monday and released all the stripers. Off the water at 12 noon. No wind at all the whole time; a change of pace.
Way to go BigE. Got er done on the tube, I see. Thanks for the report.![]()
Hello Big E,
Nice pictures of the fish. It was amazing that there was no wind. It was because I was not out on the lake.[;)] Did you see any boils? I stayed home and performed fishing equipment maintenance so I can go fishing after all the weekend warriors leave.

Hardcore! Flyrod, floattube, Hole 33. Just the hike, having to carry everything would kill me! Sounds like another example of how a guy should spend his time. Great report!

[:)]Thanks stripercraze, I was hoping to see some boils but I didn’t see any. I heard from a guy at work that he had seen some boils a few days before I went out. I was also amazed that there was no wind. I got just a tickle on the way back.
[:)]Thanks BaySport, I really wanted to catch a striper on the flyrod. I was using an 8 weight rod which was overkill for the size fish I did get. I think I can get away with a 5 or 6 weight on the next go around, even if they are bigger. I also stayed to the south of 33 hole to avoid the heavily fished areas. There are alot of cool coves to paddle into toward the south. And nothing beats a cold one after hiking back up!
