Cycle yes but like others the lakes have had in the past.. But this time with the new reggs the big bass are gone so it will if ever comes back..
The chubs are still there and a few perch, but with people like you that has to eat or take them home to get freezer burn or give them away the lakes like Jordanelle can not keep up with you or them..
And yes fisherman can and do fish the lakes out of fish, Perch trout bass walleye any and all fish can be…
Down on the DWR you bet they pushed for the change they got the change, now we get to catch little fish …WOW this is great…
I did see them and even had one in my hands.. You see one of the spear fisherman got the cramps and his two other good buddy’s left him to wait for the cramps to leave then catch up to them…
I picked him up and took him over to the ramp…It was his first time to try spear fishing..
The spear guns they use can shoot about 10’ I was told..

Obviously, you are not the only one who fishes Jordanelle, I fish it a lot and I only scratch the surface compared to some anglers that I know. We all know that Jordanelle has been on the decline, the perch disease hurt. The surviving chub population are great for breeding but the fry get eaten quickly by the hungry predators and the older chubs are dying off and not being replaced (well, not like they used to be).
I can still catch five pounders up there and you know how good you are…so maybe you need to step up your game ol’ Cliffy or get a spear gun and kill everything in site, especially big fish, because that’s what spear fishermen do [crazy] lol.
I’m sure you enjoy the attention and post count or whatever it is you are after but blaming the DNR is getting old. I swear we went over the same thing last month.

it was GOOD while it lasted. I have been fishing the spawn 3 years before it went on tv a few years back.
Anyways, some places do not let you fish during the spawn and I am pretty sure this would of done some good at j.[reply][/reply]

Don’t know anything about Cliff but this could be true. Bigger bass get old and wise and are harder to fool. From the sounds of it you’re just catching small fish, not that the fishery is ruined. I guarentee there are big fish in there, just not the numbers you’re used to. It sounds like they are complaints about having to actually work and challenge yourself for a change instead of shooting fish in a barrel.
I agree with mismanagement. It’s the peoples fault, if more fisherman were sport anglers instead of takers things would be better everywhere. All the bass lakes are fairly fragile, bass don’t thrive too many places in Utah, allowing the keeping of larger fish will definately impact the fishery in a negative way.
Quit your whining and do something about it - like move 1500 miles east and a little south.

Bassrods, just a little bit of info, complaining about how a public resource (DNR) is soo terrible on an internet forum is going to get you no where. have you attended any of the open houses and voiced your concerns?

Zach, its a good thought, but I have noticed a trend as well. I have fished Jordanelle a lot in the past months, throwing various lures like Jigs shallow-deep, senkos, swim-senkos, cranks, carolina rigs and in those trips I was unable to get anything over the 14 inch mark. From what I have noticed in catches in the previous 4 years, the larger fish are becoming fewer and fewer. I have a hunch that this is because of end of life of the original stocked fish. Their biggest offspring are only 14 inches or so, but for them to get to a world class adult size I think the DWR need to put some regs in place to protect this new age class so they can make it to a trophy size fish before being caught and kept.
As for food, the shorelines have been full of tiny chub minnows so there is plenty of food for the bass.
I am not a biologist, however I have spent a lot of time over the years fishing Jordanelle for bass and I have done my own research thanks to this great tool called Google. There are still some nice fish in Jordanelle, but they are far and few between for sure.
It does get tiresome and does little but to cause yet another back-n-forth bickerfest.
At the same time as the LM/SM regs changed so also did the Wiper limits. Can’t say everything is going to make a difference right away, but sometimes it takes time for changes to occur
First of all bassrods I would like to thank you for the pictures of me, those are pictures that I can’t take of myself and I have saved them to my computer. I am a little embarrased as I am not used to being followed around by the paparazzi. Also thank you for giving my “good buddy” a ride, as for leaving him behind that was is an outright lie.

If you are implying those are three different groups pictured also a lie as they are all pictures of me.
You should also be aware that boating within 150 feet of a displayed “diver down” flag is illegal, you came with 30 feet of us once and well within 150 feet again as seen in the picture you posted. If you don’t know what a dive flag looks like it can be found on page 19 (I think) of the fishing guidbook.
I can tell any of you what I observed under water if you are interested pm me (I have done this for bassrods before at his request but will not make that mistake again). This was my first time diving in Jordanell and after 4 hours in the water I learned some very interesting things about the lake. The fish population that I saw was not what bassrods describes. Many large heathly fish were observed.

Wiper is in your handle, If you think back the wipers at Willard got so they was few and getting so it was not worth fishing for.. They planted more wipers and changed the limit, but it took many peoples voices to get this done..
Now Jordanelle is in that shape, the limits was changed and in one year it has made it show it was the wrong way to go..
I have been hopping that others would see this and by reading all the posts it looks like many have..
This sight is about the only way I see of reaching the most fisherman in hopes the dwr may as well see and change..
They started trying to change the limit a few years ago and for many it is easy to see it has not worked..
Jordanelle was a world class smallmouth fishery some say not, but any lake that had 20" + bass in the numbers Jordanelle had (HAD) and as many people could catch the fish of a life time, made Jordanelle a world class fishery…

Following you I was fishing and trying to stay clear of you, the pictures was at 8 times zoom the only time I got close was to pick up your friend…
In another post I made I was ask to get pictures of any divers I seen and where they were at..
I know there are still bass in the Nell, but as hook and line fisherman we have to get the fish to take our hook to catch them… Spear so called fisherman chase the fish down and shoot them, like the lakers at Fish lake and now at many other lakes..
So was I following you NO I was fishing the upper end of the Rock cliff arm and any one knows its hard not to get behind some one else or in front of them when fishing that end..
And the only reason I pick up your friend was cause I heard you saying he had cramps and one of you telling him to work along that (south side) of the lake to make it to the shore.. On that side with no shoes or boots and no trails on that side… If I see some one in trouble I will at leased help no mater if I like them or like what they do..
And if you ask him what I said to him..( I was one of the people that is trying to get spear fishing for game fish out lawed) I was up front with him…
Do I like your sport yes like bow fishing, but not for game fish..I think the bow fisherman have all the rights you should have…But not at game fish…
