Little tough guys and salmon eggs[;)]

Kokes are schooling fish…when they are there, you can catch them on most small jigs tipped with a variety of baits…when they are not there, you can jig till the proverbial cows come home and won’t catch a thing. It’s mostly about right place, right time.

I talked to a fish cop on the ice at the berry last year and he told me he has never heard of any kokes coming through the ice up there.

:astonished: Caught up where ??? Causey I doubt… i too have seen 100s plus caught in a seasons time on the ice.. Strawberry on the other hand Ive only heard of a few comin outa there in the last few years on the hard deck.. As mentioned before its all bout timing if your there an the kokes are there its over on just bout any presentation ..Ive learned over the years the kokes r more bout striking in aggression not because they r hungry.. They r known to be a plankton eater not meat, jigs, spoons ect…[;)]

I was talking about the berry not causey, I know alot of them come out of causey and porcupine.

I’ve seen them on the ice at causey.. I watched a guy next to me last yr. Pull one out still in spawning colors.. He posted pics. on here..

I’ll be up there on Saturday as well, I’ll pay you and Petty a visit.

I don’t fish Causey much because you can only keep 4 while you can keep 12 on Porcupine, but in the past when I have fished Causey we always caught them back where the creeks come in. They are fun to catch especially when you get a school in, the more rods in the water the better to hold them in the area. . We have brought schools from 80 feet deep to the surface with some jumping out on the ice when they follow a hooked fish to the surface, quite a sight. I didn’t make it to Porcupine last winter do to the snow. Some days are great the next day nada, can’t even find a school. Good luck to you on your next trip. [fishin]
