Decided to run up and check the river above Jordy to see how many kokes in the river. I only looked at a couple deeper slower holes both had a bunch of colored up Kokes. Most were the standard 16-18 inch saw a few I would guess were 20” plus. The hole right below the bridge between the campground and rock cliffs visitors center on the board walk was loaded up pretty good! I would guess any slower deeper hole will have a bunch in it. Here’s a couple pics and a video if I can get the to download. Thus is a little earlier than I usually go up to look. I’m guessing there will be more showing up as time goes on.
Cool pics and video, thanks for sharing it with us. After our poor catching on Tues I was wondering if the majority of the kokes were heading up stream. When you were at Jordanelle this week, how far up the lake, toward the inlet did you fish?
Thanks for the photos and video! Good to see them heading upriver. I hope Jordanelle produces a bunch of natural fry to supplement the stocking efforts there. The Biologist told me that Strawberry is 40% natural and 60% stocked so hopefully Jordy can equal or exceed that.
I was curious of the kokes in Rockport because nothing ever gets posted here. So, a totaled the stocking reports for Rockport and Jordanelle. The total for Rockport was from 2020 to 2026 (nothing was planted in 2023 and 2020 was the first year they planted them) total was 336,873. Jordanelle was from 2019 to 2026 total was 2,061,883. I often wonder how many make it to spawning size.

I wonder if there are still some kokes in Smith Morehouse. Someone posted some pictures a few years back of some spawners in the stream coming in.
I’d be interested if any natural reproduction in the river above Jordy and when they come down the river if they were spawned there, They then would need to survive wipers, splake, browns, cutts, bigger rainbows,SMB and musky! Tough challenge I think! LOTS oF FISH EATING PREDATORS!! IMHO
Ranger told me they do run up the Weber above WANSHIP. I’ve never looked might have to do that one day. He said they are mostly 13-15 inches from when he’s seen them?

Well that is some interesting info, I would never have guessed they planted that many kokes in RP, as few as are caught there. In most koke lakes they can be easily caught but our experience with RP has not been positive. I have read of a few members catching them there but few limits are caught.
as many kokanee as I was seeing on my fishfinder at jordanelle there will be a lot going up the river more than strawberry gets
