We had a great day on Jordanelle today. I took a friend who had never caught a Kokanee salmon. We got to the lake around 6:45 a.m. and we were on the water by 7:00. We started in an area that I have caught them in the past and never ended up moving. We just kept going back and forth through that same area . The Kokanee were deeper then what I thought they would be. We found them between 30 and 45 ft deep. We caught most of them at 45 ft. We were limited out on Kokanee by 8:45 a.m. and the quality was better than Lost Creek. We also caught and threw back a few as well. Biggest koke was around 17".
We then turned our attention to smallmouth bass. My friend had never caught a smallmouth bass either and we put quite a few into the boat. We caught a couple of really nice big rainbows while fishing for Smallmouth as well. We really did have a blast today. My friend also got the biggest bass that was right around 17 to 18 in. We were off the water by 11:00 a.m.
Good to place a face with a name. Glad you guys did good as well. We caught them on green, orange, pink and watermelon colors tipped with pink or green maggots. Both spinners and squids worked for us.
Nice going Paul, you had a great morning, from the sounds of it and a 17" Koke and 17 to 18" bass are really decent sized fish for the Nelle lately. Any problems with the power squad?
Couple of drive-by’s when fishing for bass, but they pretty much kept their distance and wasn’t too bad. Even then, the wakes still disrupt what you’re doing.
Yes, the koke size was decent, and the big bass was a great catch.
