Jordan River

[:)] Does anyone fish it? I have a few spots i fish for fun i had good luck with White bass and Utah suckers. I was just wondering if anyone here goes there too.

Hey lov2fish,

I also fish the Jordan fairly often. Mostly for Carp, but I have caught about every thing else in there in the process - i.e. catfish, bass, walleye, suckers, etc.

:sunglasses:The Jordan holds a surprising number of fish, of several species. It is a favorite of many anglers who are looking for a place to catch fish close by without having to settle for the planters and the people on the community lakes.

I had to edit your picture. It was too large for our format…640 pixels wide. Maximum is 450 pixels wide within a post. You can simply attach larger files. Please do not copy and paste from a photo bucket

What part of the Jordan do you fish at, if you don’t mind me asking

[;)] i fish from 7000sout to 5400 south mostly near all bridges carp and suckers like to hang around where there is less current.

Sorry about the pic. But thanks for fixing it.

I want to know where is the best spot for big mouth bass and walleye any help would be appreciated.

:sunglasses:Largemouth and walleye like opposite conditions. You will most often find the largies in quiet spots, out of the current. Walleyes like just the opposite…deeper runs with current. There are several spots along the river where creeks and canals dump in to the river. These can be good, especially if there is a “scour hole” that develops during high water runoff. Good places to find trout…rainbows, browns and even a stray cutt once in awhile.

There are also some low dams and headgate type structures that create a backup on one side and aerated current on the other. These can be good for multiple species.

**The little pockets behind bridge pilings can be good, as can fishing right along the concrete walls under bridges. A lot of it depends on water depth and flow on any given day. The fish will move around to find the spots that provide both shelter and food. **

On some days you may have to drive and park several different places to find the right holes and the right conditions. And, where you knocked 'em dead one day might be fishless the next day. Lots of fluctuation in the water levels and clarity. Fishing the Jordan is a lot like hunting sometimes.

Veteran Jordan anglers spend a lot of time driving, parking, walking and prospecting along different stretches of river. They tend to keep their best spots kinda quiet, because most of them will only handle one or two people at a time fishing them. It’s a bummer to tell someone about a hot hole and then find it full of other people on your next trip.

So, if someone wants to share, by PM, respect their confidence and do not pass on the info to anyone else without the permission of the person who trusted you enough to tell you about it.

I’ve had good luck lately for the whities, a few walleye, and the dreaded sucker, although I fish quite a bit more south than you do. Gotta love catching 'em on the fly you tied a half an hour ago…

[;)] sweet i’m still looking for my first walleye.

Picked up a couple of walleye on a zonker teaching my wife to cast(9000 so)

Zonker eh? Only throw those guys for big browns, but I guess I would be a good walleye pattern. The walleye I’ve been catching have been gorgeous, even for the jordan river. What size zonker you throw? I’ve been throwing strait krystal buggers. They wouldn’t hit the conehead, but they love the beadhead. Interesting minds those fishes have…

:astonished: sweet catch man someone needs to teach me a few tricks i just stared fising about 2 months ago and felt deeply in love with this sport even gave up my cars. Still looking for that first Walley
