Jordan river Sunday

went out looking for some catfish out of a spot where i have had good success. got there around 9 30 am. started fishing andd about 5 min i landed a hard fighting sucker on worms. got sick of hooking those ones so i tried a curly tail grubby for some eyes or WB but no takers either. i think fishing was slower today because of the super moon the night before but who knows. no i was desperate to get a fish so i put on a motor oil senko wacky rigged and fished along the shore and reed line, did that for a half an hour and then Bamm!!! a good hit finally with a good hookset immediatly i knew it was big and i thought i had a good sized LMB on since it hit a senko but it just kept peeling down river out of the main hole and into the main current, fought in for about10 to 15 mins when it finally broke the surface of the water, and what do you know its a big ol carp with the rubber worm hanging out of his mouth. crazy stuff for me since i have never caught a carp on anything but worms or carp bait. it was definaly the hardest fighting fish to date out of there even compared to some cats that were bigger out of there.

no kitties today but it ahd been a tad cold at night too maybe thats messing with the fish a bit. going totry a different spot closer to the lake i havent hit yet that has some big ol cats to play with so ill have to give it a try.

thanks tightlines

heres my senko carp :sunglasses:

I catch carp out of the Jordan all the time on jigs. The Jordan has been slow with this cooler weather. I’m sure it will pick up as the week goes on.

jigs thats pretty cool stuff, it can confuse you when you hook it and dont see it for a minute in that dirty water.
but the jordan has defiantly slowed for catfish the last week and i couldnt even get a gill or WB to bite in the cattails which is strange for this spot. here in the next few weeks if it can stay warm and not get too cold at night the kitties will pick up and the jordan will produce the real giants that roam those waters. been thinking about UL for cats cause ive never targeted them there individually. but the river is a little higher and not clear like it was last week which sounds funny for the jordan, but its really been suprising how clear it had been in this section.

Well, I should clarify. On occasion I’ll catch them on jigs. I would not suggest anyone target them with jigs.

Those big Crap are so fun to catch, they really do put up a good fight.

the cool thing is i always see them on top of the water carpin around but never really thought to mess with them since i like to eat what i catch, but after the fight he gave me ill have to target them with some doughballs, cause i dont think the wacky rigged senko will work again :astonished:.
