I’m taking my son to a scouting activity this weekend that at some park in Lehi off Main St. Supposedly it’s right on the Jordan River. Is anyone familiar with this area?
I’d like to fish with him, but don’t know much about the Jordan. Any recommendations? Fish the bottom for cats? …or maybe a slip bobber for panfish? Use crawlers?
Hi Gumbo,
There are a couple of options around Willow Park. If you walk north along the river (there is an asphalt trail) for a couple of blocks the river makes a bend and the trail raises in elevation, there is also a little stream that runs into the river. This is called horseshoe bend. There are a few old remains of cars and such along the bend. Fish south of the little stream. There are some pretty good channel cats in this area. If you fish along the Jordan river by the camping areas of the park you will probably just catch mud cats. There is a stream that runs into the Jordan on the North boundery of the park. Some times you can catch white bass were the stream flows into the Jordan. Sometimes there are trout in there as well (this stream comes from AF canyon so fish planted up there can wash down.
I hope you have a good time. I was a scoutmaster when my son was young and have fond memories of all those young men I got to serve.
