Haha, okay okay I’ll shut up about it[bobhappy]. You guys put some crazy numbers every trip, gotta be a good forearm workout.
I have given up on circle hooks! The only time i use them is when i am not standing next to my rod. I used them pretty religiously for a couple years and i found that they only worked about 25% of the time. The other 75% they swallowed the hook and i end ed up having to cut it off and lose the hook. Dont get me wrong when they do work they are awesome and if they worked every time id be sold forever… but Those things aren’t cheep, and I love setting the hook on big fish. I now have a new favorite. The gamakatsu big river hooks. They are gangster!!! don’t miss many fish with these razor sharp things. And i have not had one swallowed yet!! The state record was caught on one!
thanks for the kind way that you asked me to participate in catch and release, too often on here i see people cruicify others for keeping nice fish.
+1 on that. Well played both of ya. Cats are certainly prolific, and manage through a lot of tough conditions. But it does take time to grow 'em big. I’ve kept a few over 26 inches, but think I’ve decided that two-foot mark is a good cutoff. Spare my filet blade some work!
And you can get a pretty nice smokable, grillable, bake-able hunk out of them younger punks!
I’d almost say anything under 15 could probably do better to go back to the gym and bulk up some.
And wow! Giving out all the secrets! Ha. Well, you Southern Catters can have a little hope for next year, if they drain Cutler as it sounds they will, not sure if the Cats will run uprivers, or spill over, and cruise down to Catman’s stomping grounds.
