I checked the conditions at Lake Side Lodge today . 2 " of snow and 4 " of slush on the ice . Going to fish it Friday or Saturday .

There’s a local fishing derby on the 17th up there. It’s only a 1/2 day deal.
Sign ups at the boat ramp At 8:30. Prizes for different age groups.

I called Keith to get some more details. It’s a single big fish competition by weight, ties to be broken by second heaviest fish. Low harvest is encouraged. He seemed helpful and friendly

I walked out on the ice at the boat ramp by the dam . 4" of snow and no slush on the ice . Going to try and use my 4 wheeler on the ice next weekend for the tournament .

I fished by the dam today. I had the place to myself. Caught a dozen or so before 10. Nothing over 15 inches. The afternoon was slow but I still got 2 around the 20 inch mark.

How thick was the ice ?

The ice was about a foot and a half. With the dam filling, there was slush under the snow in some areas.

I called Kevin because I wanted some more information . The tournament will use fish and game rules . We can use 5 poles .

Why are they still filling the resivore ? It is at 82% . Where are they going to put the run off this spring ? I wish they would let out what is going in and hold the level steady during ice fishing season . There must be alot of water on top of the ice the way the lake is raising .

A friend of mine tried to fish there on Tuesday and said the slush was almost 2 feet deep.

Not good news. We come to Island Park every winter for a weeks vacation. We always try and fish a few days while we are there. We will be there the 14-20 of these month.

So if we can’t get on the ice at island park, any other places to ice fish that are not to far away?

It’s going to be 60 degrees here tomorrow…I wouldn’t hold out much hope.

Fish it today for a couple hours caught a few the ice is 16 the edges are wet be careful
