Is the Murdock Basin Road Passable?

Thinking of a trip into Echo, Joan, area, is the Murdock Basin Road Passable? Appreciate your help.

I have not been on it since last year. It was passable then with a high clearance vehicle and some patience. Have fun and let us know how it goes.

Depends on your definition of passable[;)]. You need 7 or 8 inches of clearance minimum to make it to the turnoff for Echo and Joan and a couple more to drive the last quarter mile up. Patience is the key. Most trucks travel a couple miles an hour through there so even if you can drive faster you probable won’t for long stretches behind them. I think it’s faster to hike in on trails than to drive that road but then you have to carry everything with you. Leave a few goldens for me[sly].

The road is passable, and I saw some cross-over vehicles in there this year. I think they were crazy, and probably beat there cars to death. I would recommend something more truck-like because that road is indeed pretty rough. I go in there with my Ford Explorer. I granny over a few of the bigger rocks and holes in 4-low to keep from bottoming out. But I am crazy.
