I have a guest, but room for one more for anyone who knows my cell number (I won’t be checking back on BFT tonight).
Good luck tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have other appointments/plans.
Kent, I really want to go fishing with the master (you) one day and I would have reached out on this invitation but doing a bit of post surgery recovery, so I will keep myself in the que for another day
kentofnsl:BTW - for what it is worth, I am only fishing with folks who have been vaccinated for Covid.
This seems silly.
Better to be negative…than “positive”.

I would enjoy fishing with you some day.

Thus far, my entire family has been blessed to avoid Covid. I don’t consider it silly to make decisions, I consider reasonable, to minimize my risk of getting it. Two of my fishing buddies caught Covid, from a father and son, on a fishing trip and it sent one of them to the hospital. After almost two years his health is almost back to how he felt before catching Covid.

So, exactly what did you think was silly about kentofnsl only fishing with folks who follow CDC recommendations? I feel the same way, do you think I’m silly for believing in science? Do you do your own “research”?

You’re lucky I guess. Although, it’s likely you and you’re family have been exposed to the virus dozens of times by now or you’ve had it and didn’t know it. My father-in-law died from Covid complications this past January. Triple vaxxed, boosted, you name it and it still killed him. Now, we get Birx and Fauci telling us the they knew all along the vaccine wouldn’t protect from infection. What about those people who’ve already had Covid, but haven’t been vaccinated?

It’s silly because it doesn’t take into account people who had Covid and recovered but haven’t been vaccinated. It’s silly to think that one hasn’t been exposed or infected by now to the virus. It’s silly that that component is what concerns you the most about a complete stranger. I feel bad for people like you that think the current variant will be “blocked” by being vaccinated. You probably drive around in your car alone and still wear a mask. I believe in science. I don’t think that’s silly. But, science got this one wrong, according to the latest research.
Agreed. He should have kept his misinformation to himself. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

To be clear, nothing I said above is misinformation.

To be clear, saying that insisting your fishing partners should be fully vaccinated and boosted is “silly” is misinformation.
I have been going to the coast every year since 2000, and will be going again fairly soon. The only year I missed was 2000, as the area closed completely due to COVID. I have introduced a few friends to the area. In 2019 I took a good friend out for tuna. He had never fished for or caught tuna, and I won’t soon forget the look on his face when the first rod went off. Smiling from ear to ear.
Then COVID hit. I got vaccinated in December of 2020, second dose in February, and am double boosted. My friend, who is a good guy and very avid fisherman, is vaccine reluctant. He so far has refused vaccination, so he missed last year and won’t be going this year. So, this makes three years he will have missed, the first due to the closure, the last two by choice. Everything in life is a risk/reward calculation. I cannot wrap my head around forgoing the opportunity to catch salmon, rockfish, albacore, and this year halibut, because one refuses vaccinations.

PS. This site says I’m a rainbow trout. I don’t even fish for trout. Walleye, kokanee, ocean salmon, tuna, but not trout.
