Ice fishing season has begun

Indeed, can personally confirm. Ice varied widely depending on location. Still small portions of open water on some of the popular roadside lakes, like Trial. Be diligent in checking thickness as you go. Roads were nearly dry with only some snow and patchy ice.

Good news! Heading up this week for sure been watching bald pass cams and temp sensors. Latest start in many years. Thx for the update

Do more than check, if you are not wearing a flotation suit, wear a pfd, carry your spikes. Drag a rope behind you, already tied around you with your buddy on the other end.
Going in is cold, frightening and depending on where, can be deadly, but thinking things through and error on the side of caution will get you home.

Trying to decide if we will get ice now or if this is just a cruel trick… Monday looked good with a new inch of ice, Tuesday & Wednesday was warm and nearly melted it all, half way back to cool last night just to play with my excitement, but ten day doesn’t look too promising at least for the low level lakes, I know the high country has probably arrived for the year, but down low it’s a vixen… Later J

Mike you are so right, didn’t get to use the boat much through the summer, so maybe I’ll get a chance this winter… Later Jeff

I fished Lost Lake on Sunday 12/7. Good amount of people but plenty of room to spread out. Action was steady for tigers, brook and rainbow trout. There is about 6 inches of ice.

The highway was snowpacked in the morning but mostly melted off in the afternoon.
Plenty of roadside parking just above the lake.  There is a good trail heading down to the ice.

Read a post on FB, that people are fishing Mirror lake, for those of you that might be interested.
