Ice Fishin Utah Lake 12/13/2009

Fished from 800 to 12 caught over 100 fish between two guys and kept 71 white bass 5 blues 3 perch 2 crappie we had 15 that were 10" or bigger with the biggest being 14"

Which part of the lake and what were you using? We used to kill them on Sonar Jigs. I havent tried it in years but i’m really tempted to go!

Good to have you as a member,
A sled full and filled the freezer “WOW” !!!
but did you leave any for the rest of us ???[;)]

You was at AM Fork Harbor correct? I went to Lindon and had the same results. I didnt keep any because I didnt feel like putting in that much work, I worked enough reeling and baiting. It was fast fishing I was only there for a couple of hours today.

Could you tell me what a Sonar Jig is?

Nice report and pics. Can you feel your hands after all that filleting. :sunglasses:

Damn, that’s a lot of filleting to get done. Hello electric fillet knife.

5 hrs later we had dinner lol 4 plates of fish cakes!!!

Welcome to the site Stan, that was a great first post and pictures. Sounds like some good eats. WH2

Good job! Guess I need to bag Elk hunting and go fishing today.

Holy cow. Looks like a good time.

I’ve always wanted to try Utah Lake in the winter time. Seeing pictures like this just may motivate me to do it. Plus I’ve got a friend that’s never been ice fishing and I’m sure if we could get out there and have even half the success you did he’d be hooked. [;)]

You mind telling us what part of the lake you fished and what you used? Or is it a secret?[;)]:sunglasses:

Nice post. You really got into those white bass.

Does anyone know if the Lindon/AF boat harbor fees still apply for ice fishing? In the past i’ve paid it, but it seems like a bunch of people don’t. Just curious.

I fished at Lindon! In the harbor it took one hour to find the school we were lookin for! After about 15 holes! We set up and used a little jig with a piece of worm The fish were on the bottom or a foot off the bottom. Slow jiggin or not jiggin they were hitting it hard. The sonar we used saw no action all day! DONT USE A SONAR JIG!!![frown] We used a tiny piece of nightcrawler or wax. Its probably just as good at Saratoga, Pelican, Af just a matter of finding the right hole. Might hit up around the lincoln bend for some walleye in a couple of weeks. I am lookin forward the most for Pinveview and Yuba OOOHHH YEAAAHHH!! Good luck to everyone Just remember It takes minutes to catch that many fish but hours to fillet them LOL :sunglasses:
