One of my best friends passed away this week. A person could not have asked for a better companion in life. I have indeed been fortunate to have merited such a companion. Everyone should have the opportunity to have a friend such as Shamus.
“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring–it was peace.” - Milan Kundera
Congrats on 12 years of unconditional love and companionship. I am sorry for your loss, i wouldn’t wish that on anyone…
I’m sorry to here about your loss, Fishhound. I’ve met Shamus and he was a great dog, and was very welcoming to me when I was at your place. May he rest in peace…
I can relate to the hard times that you are going through. I have had two dogs that lived to a ripe old age and when you lose them it leaves you with a terrible empty feeling. The are the best companions. The only complaint I have is they don’t live long enough. My oldest dog will be ten this year and I hope I will have a few more good years with her. Try to remember all the good times. gshorthair
Hey Chuck, I knew from talking with you that the end was near. But, as with family, losing a longtime special animal is tough, even when it is expected.
We have all been there, but that does not make it any easier when it happens more than once. If anything, it gets worse.
You mentioned that you might get a new dog (or two). When the time is right that will probably be the best form of therapy.
