its becoming a tug a camp when its time to go ice fishing any more with all the stuff you have to drag in…
this has got me wondering, what all do you pack in when you go, and how are you getting there, like by what means of transpertation… Snow Shoeing ect…
sled, bucket (contains ice scoop, 4 rods, small box of jigs, rod holders, thermos, and a jar of wax worms), auger, a small chair and then I hoof it!
I use a jet sled and have been trying to work out a multi-use sled with some comforts.
In this picture you see most of the loose gear.
The duffle is the tarp and frame work for the wind break. The 10" auger.
The buckets have the rod holders and jiggers ( if you need a taller bucket, cut the bottom out of one and put it inside another and use a round head screw screwed from the inside, into the point where the wire handle is in the outter bucket, shouldn’t snag on things as much)
The spoons (notice the foam on the handles, so when they head for the hole they will not sink away) will be on the floor by the auger.
The wooden box (now an aluminum box) holds rods, tackle, stove, tools, sonar, bait, etc.

This is the windbreak and does a nice job if the wind isn’t too strong. As you can see the box becomes a bench and the stadium chair gives my back some support.

I will be incorporating more rod holders in to the pvc frame to make moving easier and have rods with different setups ready ( we an have 5 rods here in Idaho)

I lke your set up. I have a jet sled as well but never thought of rigging anything like that up. Wouldn’t mind an ice tent though, but they are a little pricey.
The price and the size (won’t fit in the back of the cherokee with all the other gear).

You can trailer it to your favorite lake and enjoy fishing beyond the plowed road to use the whole lake[fishin]. I have one and enjoy ice fishing in any weather condition in total warmth and comfort [angelic].

I generally walk. Most of the places I fish are only a hundred yards or so from where I park. If Im scouting or fishing a new area I go pretty light. I can get by with one plastic bucket for ice poles with gear and my hand auger. Most of the time I pull a small sled loaded with a small shelter, fish finder and regular gear. Even loaded for bear it weighs well less then a hundred pounds. The sled pulls pretty easy mounted on skis.
my buddies and i use a snowmobile to pull my frabrill ice tent behind it another ice tent behind it a jet sled with our ice auger and all of the rest of our crap if i knew how to put pics on this thing i would show you a picture of our caravan it gets some pretty funny looks. this all works really well as long as the snow and slush isn’t too deep
i bought a popup tent that you can wear like a backpack it works great for early ice. then when it gets better snowmobile or atv is the only way to go so you can take the kitchen sink.

All that weight you must use the ATV or take your 4x4 truck out on the ice with you…
i just got a plastic sled that put the fishing equipment in.i have a ice box for just jigs so i dont haveto dig throught my big tackle box to find it. I got a 55 gallon barrel cut it in half put pvc pipes in it to stant my poles in it. that way they dont get tangled up when u got to get the poles out. in cheep so i only have a hand auger. which is 6 inches harder to get the fish in the hole but if the hook comes out of fish u still have a chance of getting it which i have had to do plenty of times.
i started out with a 5 gal bucket, then a wally world kid’s sled, jet sled jr, and on to a jet sled. i saw a steal of a deal for a X2 at Cabela’s and that led for a need to tow the barge. i now use an Alpine when conditions allow. the twin tracks make a perfect tug to pull out 4 wheelers when the get stuck in the slush and can haul everything and the kitchen sink. (the tent is an otter dbl wide. still modifing the X2)

we all start out small, but it aint long before we need a garage for all the ice fishing stuff..
I was just thinking today about making a sled out of a 55 gallon plastic barrol… lol as if I realy need something else to take ice fishing with me… What am I saying of corse I need a sled to go ice fishing with me, I need to be able to haul a guest out on the lake with me.. lol
