How about a BFT get together at the Berry?

I just got to thinking, it would be kind of fun to have a “meet and greet” fishing trip on Strawberry next week. I would enjoy fishing down there and seeing other BFTers there too.

I have a nice long weekend next week and, depending on the weather (we’ve been spoiled this week), I hope to be there Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.

Anyone else up for an informal Berry bash get together?

**Sounds like a great idea and we need to do that more often. I enjoyed meeting everyone last year at the DAV event up there. **

Perhaps more notice next time, I am heading up Sunday and can’t make both weekends. [:/]

Ditto… heading up in the AM (the 6th) and try to piggy back on some of the fun. I’ve done really well in the past when on my tube with the fly rod, but now that I have the boat I just can’t seam to get the knack for those big daddy’z. Funny how I can lay them out at Lost Creek, East Canyon and Rockport but all 4 times up to the Berry this summer has been far and few between to the point that I swore it off… litterally $%$%T$^$# @@#$ @##$%&$.

But I have said my prayers and asked for forgiveness and am ready to try again. This jigging thing has me all confused so I just have to put in the time and deal with it I guess.

When U guys are tipping your jigs are U using a whole small minnows or cutting off pieces of bigger ones? I’d like to see a picture if anyone has one of how U rig up the jigs…

Thanks in advance… any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking forward to being there, I will keep in touch with you . I have a neighbor that wants to up there.

Would absolutely love to meet but it’s all dependent on the arriving weather system. I’ll be available all next week except for Monday the 8th. Below is the microcast for Strawberry according to KSL. Looks like Sunday will be the best day! Saturday is out due to **UTE FOOTBALL!!

I will be there tomorrow as well. Strawberry can be a bit technical, but once you find the key, look out.
Current Creek is like fishing in a bucket this year…anything goes.

My take is, with this warm front, and water probably still at 50 ish, go deep but try 15’ to 30’.

How I do it is to cut off a small piece of minnow and tip the jig with it. For a minnow that is only a couple inches long I will usually cut it in two and use it to tip two tubes. For a larger minnow, I will cut it in chunks of about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long and tip with that. The idea is to just provide a small offering to attract them with some scent and taste. This time of year, they will hit larger offerings, but it is not necessary and you will miss many more bites with the larger offerings and use more bait. It also seems to help if one keeps the tube horizontal, rather than hanging vertically.

I will be there all day Saturday with a few friends.
Not sure which part but we typically hang out near Haws.
I do not have a BFT sticker but I will be in the boat in the picture.
Love to put a few faces to some of the names on here.

I’d love to join you , but have already made plans to spend that weekend down at lake powell.

Ya know Kern, if the temps turn out as in SmokeOnTheWater’s post (low 30’s for a high!) I would have to say you have got the right idea heading for Powell. Good luck down there.

Thanks !! That bug of yours, I tried to swat it and just about broke the screen.. [;)]

It looks as if this idea may have fizzled.
I’ll be hunting cutts near Haws this Saturday and will keep an eye peeled for any BFT stickers, since the only person on this site that I know will be with me, and we don’t have a BFT sticker.
Thank goodness for good duck coats

Anybody else heading up to the Berry for Veterans’ Day?
