Hook1, Chick, Spots, whites, 9/12, Carter

Well Carter (my son) asked me early this week if I could take him fishing again  so of course I said YES!!! I picked him up right after work and as soon as we could load our suff and hook up he boat we were gone. We put in at the dam and went looking for the bait. Carter is 5 so I wanted to find some stripe for easy action. Made a short run upriver to a deeper point that had a shallow flat with steep sides adjacent to it. I saw bait on the surface and started circling around. Didnt see much until I idled over the downriver corner and they were stacked up on the slope. I tied Carter up a hair jig and I picked up a 1/2 oz chrome jigging spoon and we sat there and wore them out for about two hours. I didnt count how many we got but it was crazy fun. I just love watching him haul in a fish every time he drops his jig down there and I was unhooking fish as fast as I could. emoSmile Just before dark a bunch of bigger fish came up and I hooked up on the spook with a couple larger stripes or hybrids. I like these better because the scales and fins are not so sharp on the hands. A little bit after 8 we called it a day and Carter said he cant wait to come back to our "secret" spot! emoLaugh It was too fast and furious for pics but the water temp was 82 and we fished a vertical presentation in 6 to 15 FOW. There seemed to be lots of current on the main river but we didnt have to go that deep. Weather was great fish cooperated and we had an awe3some time.
