Henry's Report

Spent Friday through Sunday up at Henry’s in Idaho. Unlike the opener which was combat fishing at it’s best from the bank at the County Dock and near the hatchery, the fish had moved this weekend, but not out into the middle as expected. The fish were in 15 feet of water mostly off of the cliff area. A lot of boats were anchored up in that area and also off of Staley’s Springs.
I stayed with my tried and true “trolling” techniques and managed to dredge up about 12 fish per day. It was hot and the bugs were thick as … bugs! I’m sure the fish were gulping them off the water all night. I actually fished with a bug suit on for a time on Saturday. It was tough fishing, but I managed to do pretty well including one 8lb hybrid which is still swimming. Got checked by IDFG for boat safety and fish report. There was a boat washing station set up at Wild Rose Ranch where I launched. Glad to see that some of the money we are spending on the Idaho Invasive Species Sticker is going for something…
Henry’s is still a beautiful lake with lots of widllife to enjoy.

Steve, sounds like a decent trip. An 8 pound hybrid has got to be a beautiful fish, and I imagine that it put up a great fight.

Glad you were able to snag a few fish out of Henry’s. I just got back this past weekend from up there, but didn’t really have much luck on the lake. We ended up with allot more success on the outlet. Also fished the Big Springs Henry’s fork, Warm Springs area, and Down by Ashton. Had a great time with Awesome weather. I did notice that even still after the opening weekend the county boat dock was packed with shoulder to shoulder fisherman and Kids. Despite the fact that there were signs put out that clearly stated “NO FISHING FROM THE DOCK”

Hello Steve,
I believe your the guy with the bad ass unsinkable boat…Looks like its holding up to its reputation…You are also… As a fish slayer of coarse…Nice to see you putting some fish in the boat…

When it comes to fishing size does matter…[fishin]

That’s odd that you found the County Dock crowded. I went over there around noon on Saturday just to see if I could mark fish off of Staley’s and the boat dock. No one was fishing off of the dock and they had a fish cop there. In fact, he came out to do a safety check on my boat as well. He said that he had heard about the problems from last weekend and that they would be enforcing the rules from now on. Let’s hope so. [crazy]
