Henrys Lake 5-23-09

I fished Henry’s on the opener with a million other people. It was my first time up to the lake and I had an awesome time. I didn’t get up and into the water until 2:45 PM so I had a bit of a late start. I wasn’t really sure what to use so I just threw on an olive leech, threw it at the bank and started stripping it in. This worked great all day. I ended up catching 29 in the time I was there. Most were between 16"-18" with a couple 14" and a few over 20". I didn’t get a ton of pictures because its a little tough to take pictures when you’re alone. Thats why some of the pictures cut the fish out a little, sorry  Overall it was an awesome day and I will definitely be back up there again soon.

Did you get any hybrids? We got into the cutts as well. I could not believe the number of people at the county boat dock. So we tried finding them other places.

All give my report when I can get to my pics.

Thanks

No I didn’t catch any of the hybirds. I didn’t really know where to go so I just went to the first sign that I saw that said Henry’s Lake. Ended up being the State Park. And it was PACKED. I did go out deeper for a little bit and hooked into something real nice. It tugged me around for about 30 seconds and then spit the hook. Didn’t fight like a cutthroat so I’m not sure what it was. Never got to look at it. I look forward to hearing your report.

Very Nice, Love the colors but…did anybody catch any thing of SIZE or all they all gone?[;)]

We left all the big ones for you flygoddess. We weeded through all of the smaller ones so you didn’t have to bother with them. I talked with someone at the desk of Wild Rose and they indicated lots of fish, but not too many big ones being brought by.

Just kidding there…those are some NICE fish. I miss the lake, but not the CROWD…OMG that is insane!

Haha. The only fish of big size (Henry’s Lake standards anyway) was by a young boy. I was really happy he was the one who caught it though. Its always nice when a young kid catches a huge fish. Always fun to watch. It was probably 9 lbs and about 28" I’m guessing. I was just watching him from my pontoon boat though.
