Help on making a holder for my transducer

I got a hummingbird PiranhaMAX 170 for Christmas. I was wondering if I could get some pointers on how to make a holder for the transducer so I can use it thru the ice.

I’ve seen many homemade versions while on the ice when i decided to make my own out of 1/2" PVC. Cheap, modular and easy to pack! The 1/2" PVC fittings were just the right size to bolt to the transom transducer mount. Don’t be afraid to shop around the hardware store to find what works for you. Only glue the pieces you’re sure of and size it to the hole your auger makes. Just remember that you don’t have to submerge the transducer below the ice. As long as the puck can sit in the surface of the water, you’re set. Good Luck!

pvc works great for me too, on the top i just cut an old pool stick so it would catch on the ice it works great.

I made a simple “T” from PVC, Nothing is glued so that it breaks down and fits inside the cooler with the battery and sounder for transport.
I put the Ducer in the hole, the pendulum action levels the transducer and if I’m fishing in the same hole it lifts out easily.

I did mine like troll. The only thing you have to worry about is keeping the ducer level, so your not reading at an angle. I just cut off half the tip of the pvc and it slid right into the ducer bracket/ducer, then I just zip tied it’s been great.

Do yourself a favor and purchase and put together a “bell” shaped ducer for ice fishing. Then just move the head over to your tube/boat any time you like.

I used PVC T-bars for a few years but after using the bell shaped ice ducers, I will never go back to the PVC T-bars.

If you go with the PVC T bar type ducer support I’d suggest you load some lead into the pvc pipe just above where you mount your ducer. This will help your ducer center itself and hang straighter even when a cold ducer cable dont want to make things easy on ya..
