Well I never ask questions on here but I need some info for a change.
I am headed to Fish Lake for my 1st time ever tomorrow. I could use info that involves tactics, baits, jigs, locations, depths, etc on how to get splake. Perch and lake trout info would be great too but I really want my 1st ever splake!
PM will work too and if ya want the info to be secret than I will do so.

Yes I have gone through the past posts but not everything is in those past posts. I am hoping to here from the BFT members that go there that might not post that much anymore, didn’t give the specifics, etc.
Sometimes you can get a few tips that would not otherwise be available on the open forum via PM’s when you ask PBH.
Red Rock Adventure gave me a clue but I am a glutten for info, BRING ON THE INFO!
Fish lake is simple thru the ice find the weed line then find about 60 ft use small white/pink tube jigs or white with red flake cutter bugs tipped with meal worm or sucker meat. Usually the spake and bows are between 10 to 25 down. If u have a sonar that will help big time to find fish and depths. I am not a expert on the Mack fishing but you need to go deep 90ft plus with large tube jigs tipped with sucker or perch meat white or smoke or oil colored jigs. I like to fish just north of lakeside marina along the weed line I start in 60ft and go from there to find active fish,there’s alot of fish in the lake so it shouldn’t take long to find a good spot. Go in shallower for perch using jigs tipped with perch meat or eyes. Hope that helps! Heading down next weekend myself so let us know how u do!
splake and bows are the easy fun part of fish lake the big perch hard to find. the lakers ya got to rig up and go deep.
splake and bows just fish with the same kind of baits we have used at the berry-glow any thing then tip with any kind of worm . you can find the bows and splake in the 20 foot range just of the weed lines. lakers use big big baits in glow tip with some fresh jordan river sucker and put in your time.

FL is a great place - fished there Saturday. Generally I find the splake near the bottom (6" to 3’ from the bottom) - I was fishing in 38’ of water. They bite different than rainbows. When dead sticking - the line straight down, a bite is the line going ever so slightly slack. When jigging, on the down drop, you will think you hit the bottom before you expect it. That is the bite.
The rainbows are usually about 10 to 14’ under the ice - they bite like bows. All the bows I caught Saturday were in spawning colors and won’t be great table fare. If you want some to fry up or put in the smoker, the splake are much better right now.
I rig a little different than most. I use a palomar knot to tie a hook in the leader above the jig - it sticks straight out. I tie the hook in about a foot and a half of leader material first. Then I tie one end of the end of the leader (hook pointed up) to a swivel at the end of my line. I then tie a jig on the terminal end. Bait both the jig and the hook with nightcrawler, meal worm, sucker or perch meat. Saturday I did the best after I caught the sucker and turned it into bait. Funny thing, I usually catch 75-90% of my fish on the baited hook above the jig. You will miss some bites as they are harder to hook on the mid leader hook, but I believe I get more bites with this rig.

It is very simple: find the weeds, take your tackle of choice, tip it with something (worms, perch, sucker, chub) and start catching fish. If you aren’t catching fish, move 100 yards in either direction and try again. If you want bigger lake trout, move out deeper and be patient. This is one game that has not changed.

What exactly is the point of your posts on this thread?? So what if he could have/ should have or did re-read old posts?? I am sure there are people hanging around looking at this that think the info would be interesting and useful now, without having to re-read and search through old posts. I being one of them. Don’t discourage people from posting. What good would it have done if the thread would not have been made??? Saved some of your precious time in reading it??? Use your time more wisely next time and post something that may add to the site instead of trying to take away from it.

Dude seriously? I recived several PMs of GREAT INFO that led to my great day of fishing. That would not have happend without this thread. Think of how many others post questions about common places on here, I don’t see you belittling them about asking for info.
I see now that you just wanted me to figure it out for myself. I have never posted a question about anywhere on here. Go ahead and try to think of how many places new to me that I have gone to and figured things out for myself. A ton of them!

I personally have a hard time with the site’s search engine. I’ll KNOW there was a post, but doesn’t seem to want to come up in the search. Or I end up in 5 yr old posts. Sometimes those old posts get dragged up and regurgitated into new discussions.

What special secret did they give you that hasn’t been given 100’s of times in the past? Fish at Joe Bush? Fish the east side? Fish suspended?
It’s all the same. I’m all for asking questions and getting info, but I just had to wonder if you did any looking prior to posting your thread. How many different “help a first timer at Fish Lake” threads did you come up with?
I’m glad you had a good time. I’ll bet you caught some splake. i’ll bet you caught them with some kind of jig tipped with some cut bait in approximately 20 - 30 ft. of water. I’ll bet most of them were about 16" long.

Believe it or not but there is info and even reports that were not so “common” given to me via PMs. As for being related to cliff, I eat and keep to many bass. That should answer that.

Next time you go, try fishing the “spawning shoals”. Fish in 45ft. of water using a 3" purple tube jig with a chartreuse skirt (to match your outfit). Instead of using cut sucker, try a whole 2" red-side shiner. Drop the jig all the way to the bottom – make sure when you jig it that it actually is hitting the bottom. Use a cadence: jig-jig-pause…(at least 8 seconds), jig-jig-pause…, jig-jig-pause… if that doesn’t get you a hit, throw the cadence a bit of a curve: jig-jig-pause…jiggy-jiggy-jig-jig-pause…jiggy-jig-jiggy-jig-pause…jiggity-jig-jig…jig-jig…
