I just joined the message board. What a great resource. I’ve been addicted to this site since I found it. Wish I could have made it to the tournament yesterday but had a baby class (wife is very pregnant). I’m thinking about heading out this afternoon to see if the Walleye will bite a worm. If not maybe purch or two. I would appreciate any advice on fishing deer creek. I’m from WI and have only fished it with a buddy once before. I’ll be in a white and blue starcraft if anyone is out there say hello.
Well I was hoping to get some advice on how to catch them eyes. Leaving now and will fish like I did in WI. Hope to see someone out there. DWR web page says there are boats reporting their limit of eye’s so hope they like my lures.
Did great, I missed a lot of fish. Lots of weeds to contend with as well which was a bummer but overall came back with 3 eye’s and 4 purch. Could have took home as many purch as you wanted I think if you were to just go after them. I am attaching a pic, wish it would have been more clear but my phone doesn’t take the greatest pics.
Thanks for the welcome. I can easily say that this board may become an addiction as I am a freak for fishing and seem to be among other addicts here.
[right]I was as close as I could get to the river mouth without bringing in weeds every two seconds. Glad I have a kicker motor or I wouldn’t have went that shallow. Dragging bottom bouncers with a crawler.
Was there Saturday till about Noon. Trick seemed to be pulling crawler harnes’ on a bottom bouncer in 8-12 ft. of water. Some guys were going slow, some fast. The fishing was great, but the catching was not very fast. It seemed pretty consistant, but there were 12-15 boats working the same area ( north end ) . I tried several other spots, but did not do that well. Lots of small ( 4-8 inch) SMB. Water temp was about 71.
I just heard from a BFT member who lives in Heber City that he and his son fished Deer Creek last night…under the full moon…from tubes. Limits of walleye for both, including a 9 pounder for one and a 7 pounder for the other.
Said there were quite a few boats fishing the area and that everybody seemed to be getting lots of fish…and that the fish were much bigger than most of the ones being caught during the day.
Fish were caught both by trollers and jiggers. Everybody said it was the best walleye fishing they can remember on Deer Creek.
Now, if that doesn’t get your rod arm twitchin’ I don’t know what will. Unless you are a bassaholic or a slimer specialist, you gotta get excited about them wallies. If not, you got no soul.
Sorry for the late reply,
I went out and tried bottom bouncers with not a bite. Then I decided to try trolling for trout. BAM! I caught 2 bass and 2 walleyes before I started catching trout. I let the bass go and kept the eyes and trout for a great dinner. Pics added.
After Tubedude’s post I guess I should try some night fishing.
it was real slow for me at first, so I did the same, started trolling the lake for whatever. Tried everything but caught nothing until I went back to the original plan and we caught perch and Eyes. I may have them dialed in for next trip. We’ll see.
Nice post I was there yesterday casting plugs a few smallies for me. My friend was throwing plastic killing small smallies I was targeting Lg mouths None that day.
Thanks for your post I don’t troll not set up for it on my boat. Great to hear your catching walleye I like all the different species of fish that DC has to offer. Thanks for post and for sharing guys.
