I am from Rexburg Idaho and am going fising with my uncle at the green this coming Saturday. I have never fished the Green and want to make it a memorable and worthwhile trip. Can anybody give me some good info as to where to go what to use etc… I will l be using a fly rod. I have heard about the green forever and I am so excited that I finally get to go. I will nymph and dry, so flies of both types would be appreciated. I would love maps specific directions, anything I can get my hands on. Once again I really want to make this trip worth the drive so any info is really appreciated. I heard somewhere that the green river has Stoneflies, is this true? What species are they? Thanks

Lots of activity there and a lot of the fly flingers are veteran Greenie floaters.
If you are referring to below the Gorge Dam the bows would be spawning now and glow bugs with a trailer fly is good . You need to fish small , size 18 and smaller . Water should be real clear so look for fish . I like to fish the whole river from the dam to little hole but farther away you get from the access areas the better . If I was going , I would head to Little hole and walk up from there . Rapalas , spoons and jigs will work good so I wouldn’t rule out streamers too . Midges like most tail waters will be out on some days but the dry flying can be tough .Some of my favorite flies last time I was there are pheasant tails , brassies , Palomino midges and scuds . Don’t forget the san juan worm or cranefly larva can be good too . Stoneflies are few but it may get a bite . I have only fished stoneflies nymphs at night in june with success .
