Fished Grantsville Reservoir today with some friends from work. I caught a nice male brown and a couple small fatty rainbows. First time fishing there for me. Pretty slow day only fished 31/2 hours. Enclosed is a picture of the nice brown

What were you using? And were you on the North or the South side?
Hello Ratstar, the ice is about 5 to six inches thick a little soft on the edges.
Hello thparkie, I fished all over, the fish that I caught were on the south side. I caught the fish using small ice flys tipped with a wax worm. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the post magnaman. Did you fish the south side exclusively or did you try the middle, north, etc. Also was it pretty much the same all around as far as the ice, 5-6" everywhere? How far where the edges soft? Sorry for all the ?'s. Thanks again for all the info.

I bought kentofnsl’s vexilar, so we can use that up there, and hopefully slay a bunch of slimers 
4 Browns 2 bows. All the fish I caught are looking really fat still.
I’d like to use that finder you got and see more about it. but I’m afraid i’ll have to buy one after that!

Never been there but been toying with the thought of trying it. Are there chubs in there?? Is so, lots, size?
I need bait, lol.. 
If you want chubs Settlement Canyon is supposedly the place to go. Everyone I know that fishes there catches chub. I havent caught any from there yet though.
I’m not sure if G-ville has any chub or not. I pulled all my bait from G-ville res in the fall, carp minnows!
If you end up wanting to try it out get ahold of me or thparkie and we’d be glad to show you around a bit.

Settlerment Canyon is the place for little chubs about 5-8 inches long,
Go about 25-50 feet away from the Island and drop a really small hook # 10 or 12 with a crawler or waxie. Just a tiny piece of bait to barely cover the hook . You should get all the chubs you want in an hour or so. They are more active in the afternoon/evening. You can also catch a few small 10-14 inch trout out there too.
G-ville doesn’t have the chubs, but they do have nice sized browns, and some fat rainbows.

It is about 1/2 mile just south of Tooele City , [turn left on Canyon Road if you are heading south ] and about another mile up the canyon.
