Well what a weekend.. Im not good with words but here it goes…
We left Friday Morning Early and got to Anvil pretty good time. There were others heading out. So we got ready and went out from the boat ramp.. The ice was pretty good accross the bay but main part of lake was pretty iffy.. we started fishing on about 4 inches of hard clear ice. pretty close to a pressure ridge.. I wouldnt go accross it no way no how.. anyway, fishing was pretty good but all just 2lb fish.. no big ones.. the wind picked up but it was pretty warm and the ice was slick slick slick.. we were gettin off it and there wer huge cracks with water in them cracks.. lots of em.. the bank had some open spots.. I was glad to get back to the bay.
We went up to the conflu to fish for burbs and we did catch 15 or so.. some big ones and some ity bity ones..
Sat Mon decided to go back to Anvil, was fishing in the same spot and I looked over at the pressure ridge and that thing was moving.. OK I though it took them days to build.. NOPE.. it went up almost 2 ft in about 20 seconds.. the bank it stuck in the dirt and pushed dirt/rocks etc up about that far.. WOW that is some power.. I was scared stiff and decided I had enough of that ice.. ok so Im sure I would have been fine but the fishing had been good// I went/ cought/ came home alive!! What kills me is there were a TON of people who had crossed it all day.. but NONE of them knew that had happend.. I hope everyone got off safe.
Others didnt seem to care about the ice conditions but it was from 3 inches to maybe 6ish out on Anvil.. and I thought it was pretty iffy ice.. but keep in mind IM a chicken..
The weather was awesome on Sat.. and I was catching more fish.. but called it a day just didnt like the ice!!!.. Totall we counted right about 100 fish for 6 of us fishing and about 35 of them would have been burb (a few stayed and fished sat night for more burbs but thats included in the number) But NOTHING very big!
