Fished Provo River Saturday morning at about 7:00 AM and dang it was cold!! I had ice in my fly rod’s guidelines. No fish either because I was so unprepared for the cold. I was fishing a sowbug is there something better to fish with though now that it is colder? My bluegill pond’s fishing has decreased significantly and won’t get better till next spring. Is there any place that has good or decent fishing currently?! I haven’t hooked into anything in my last 4 fishing trips!!
[:(]
If you looking to just catch fish uinta mountain is great place to fish. Just grab a float tube or something to get out in the water and toss some wolly buggers, prince nymph, copper john, zebra midge, nymphocatortung. Things like that and quite a bit. I wish I could go up there and camp big time. I truly dont care how cold it is I just want to get up there again but no money for camping any time soon till spring time >_<.
Im pretty sure EHC wont work any more with this weather sadly unless if the tiger trouts are stupid enough to take a fly on a cold weather day like it is now or just still going for mayflies you never know if it gets warm enough up there.
this time of year on the provo, i personally use a barrs emerger, size 20 or smaller, it has always done well for me.
