The first Saturday in June of each year is the annual Free Fishing Day and no person is required to
have a fishing license or stamps while fishing on that day.
If you want to try fishing in texas this is the day!

A fishing license is required of any Texas resident who takes or attempts to take any aquatic life in the public waters of Texas (Note: All members of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty and their dependents are considered residents).

 You do not need a fishing license if you:

      are under 17 years of age. 
      were born before Sept. 1, 1930. 
      are a mentally disabled person fishing as part of medically approved therapy. 
      are diagnosed as mentally retarded.

I think the free fishing day in Texas is great. It gets people out with their families to fish and more and more people find they like fishing and go and buy licence and that helps all of us that like to fish. I think the person thought that up ought to get an award. Raypaw
