We tried to drive up there Sunday night. We made it to Evanston and then WYODOT closed I80. Hopefully we can get back up there soon and I can give you a decent report.

Fishley, that just made me laugh out loud litterally!
There is a report on the Wyo forum about ice on the gorge. Sounds like the only ice is in the firehole area. You might check with WyomingMoose he has benn ice fishing some.
Well we were starting to have some ice growth but all this snow and rain won’t help. It is insulating the very thin ice from freezing more. Not to mention I bet it is a slushy mess right now it rained for 3-4 hours over there and then snowed a bunch of wet snow on top of that.
The fishing at firehole has really shut off too - that area is being fished daily and nightly. Really impacts the burbot - I’m sure the bows are still on.
I will not being venturing south for a long time. The weather is not cold enough for my liking and all the snow and water on top of that thin ice adds weight and makes it unsafe - let alone annoying to fish on.
If we get a good cold spell for a week or so that would help but the way this winter is going it might be awhile.
Burbot fishing at firehole was hot early in the year, we are talking weeks ago - since then it can be tough to scratch up a couple fish. I honestly wouldn’t make the drive from Utah for that slow of fishing. I am in Evanston and I don’t wanna make the drive its half as long.
I’m sure you’ll start seeing reports from the confluence, buckboard, etc (further south) when there is safe ice. There just isn’t any.
Fished friday and Saturday out of the boat in Lucern. No ice in sight. Boat ramp had a little ice however it wasn’t bad. The roads from Mountain View to Evanston had all the ice.
LOL fishley. Too bad you aren’t a moderator over here too[:p]
