Hi all, I am new to the site, although I have been reading others posts for about a year I just decided to get into the mix! Some friends and I were at the gorge this last weekend and did quite well for Mac’s. We have fished the same hump two years in a row just south of the Buckboard Marina. We always catch a bunch of pups but never can land any of the big boys! I know there are a lot of guys here that fish and catch big macs. I was wondering if any of you mac guys would be kind enough to help me out a bit. I’m not asking for GPS locations (although that would be sweet!) but just areas that would get me in the right direction! One of my questions is when you guys fish these humps at the gorge do you fish right on top of them? Or on the downslope? or at the deepest point just off the hump? Also how deep of water are you fishing threw the ice and where is your jig located? 1 inch above the ground, 1 foot, etc. I know these are a lot of questions but Im dying to catch one of the big ones. Any PM’s or help would be very appreciated! All fish will be properly managed and released! Thank you in advance!
Any way back to our trip! We also caught a mac that had an 8 inch Burbot stuck in its gills! That gives me an answer to my questioning whether mac’s would eat them or not! We also caught two rainbows at 80 feet deep which I thought was a little weird! I would be happy to post some pics of my trip if someone could help me out in how to do it!
