Flaming Gorge - Need a Guide...or you.$$

I’ve never fished FG and after seeing the story on the Outdoors Show recently I’d really like to give it a shot.
However, I don’t believe I have any of the proper gear and know-how to make it a successful trip. If and when I go, I’d like it to be with someone that knows what they are doing.
I’ve looked into the guide services on-line…that offer a 4 hr or 8 hr day and from what I have been able to see most of them are booked until Aug/Sept.

So, if anyone is a pro at FG, has the proper gear for Kokes, and Lake Trout I would be willing to pay to join you for an outing.

My expectation would be that you are familiar enough with the area to have a great day fishing (catching fish) and have the proper gear that I could use/rent.
If you are interested, shoot me an email and we can work out the details.
Also…I’ve never caught a Kokanee or a larger Lake Trout. That is what I would like to target. Please let me know the best time of the year, etc. and I’ll do what I can to make my schedule fit. With enough planning I could pretty much fish any day of the week (Prefering to miss the weekend traffic)

Thanks!
RG

it is not posable.. you can not pay just anyone.. nore can just anyone be paided to take you!!

anyone guiding(being paid to fish from a bout) needs to have A License to do so.. and have A Captins/guides License and Utah Boat crew permit.. and on bear lake, Flaming Gorge,& lake Powell they need A Valid and Appropriately Endorsed U.S. Coast Guard Master’s LIcense..

Hmmmmm…Thanks.

Would it be okay to offer to pay for fuel, lunch, and bait to go as “buddies”?
I don’t want to break any rules.

Let me know if there is a way to do this.

yes there is a way to do it.. ya just can’t have a agreement that your paying someone to take ya fishing. wink wink know what i mean.. [;)]..

have a great day fishing (catching fish)

Only an idiot will promise you that you will catch fish on any given day and on any given body of water. The best guides, or those wilh know how, can do is put you on fish. Its up to you to hook them and get them to the net.

I would enlist the help of Tarponjim. He is a member on this site. Go to his info and you will see his home page. Not sure how far out he is booked, but I have read a lot of success stories about his guide service. I am hoping to hook up with him either late this year or next spring. He is really knowledgeable of that area, both river and reservoir.

Hey rgreenland,
I’ve had my guide lic. but gave it up a few years ago.
But I would be happy to take you out on a fishing trip
with us ?
I fish the gorge all the time, we chase the kokanee and the Mac’s send me a private message ?
We are fully rigged and have a 2252 hard top bayliner
I have guest all the time [;)]

I’ll stick with the hooters,
I think you was trying to be funny,
But if that is what you are into then go for it but leave me out
I’ll stick to my HOOTERs and BIG FISH thanks anyway [:p]
Also my wife of 31 years is alway their [;)]

Everybody knows tubes don’t catch big fish at the Gorge anyway. Last I heard, Rapalas were the big secret. Here’s an example: [;)]

Sorry you had to deal with that. The post you are replying to has been deleted. Kent

Hey Tarponjim,
how has it been going good to see you are on the forum [;)]
I tried to get you on the radio last time I was up there ?
hope you are have a good season so far, By the looks of it you are [;)]
PS. I use A/C plugs not Rapalas Ha,Ha
You are the man with the jigs,
Have a good one I’ll try giving you a call on the radio next time we are up there.[fishin]

Well, I don’t have a radio on my boat, so that’s why there’s “no answer.” I keep my cell phone off too, and never break my focus on the water. Maybe I’ll talk at the ramp or parking lot, but the rest of the time its just the sonar, precise boat control, perfect presentations, and watching the rod tips!

Fishng’s been pretty good lately, despite the decline taking place. Those who fish macks here regularly all know what I mean. Utah DWR is finally getting their wish. (20 percent drop in numbers, declining health of the fish.)

AC plugs work. Ever try Slammers?

DWR has a way with messing thing’s up [crazy]

The slammers are too much money I’ve tried them and they do work but I like the A/C’s a lot better and they are not as much money

I didn’t even think about you not having a radio,
I’ll say hi next time I see you at the dock[;)]
Good luck. Roger

Rapalas do catch fish no bull about it…Thats all I use…,but I never caught one forty lber let alone back to back..Nice job JIM.

However my friend did catch a forty on a Rapala last year it was his first after twenty or so yrs of chasing…

If you use a.c. plugs you have that long drive home I smell a skunk…lol

Hooter I’ve heard that certain people Have been giving you sh-t thought I’d join in.When you rely on a.c. plugs your an easy target…
