Hey guys, I’m heading up to the Gorge for my bday… Were going the last couple days of August, but during the week so it’s not so crowded! Has anyone camped at Mustang Ridge?? Wondering if you can walk down to the shore from your site or if it’s all dropoffs. We’ll be fishing from shore. Anyone had any luck in that area lately? Last time we went we killed it! But we were in the cedar springs area. I guess I’m just looking for tips or reports for the mustang ridge and surrounding areas. And don’t really know what to expect of the campground/fishing access. I’ve camped at Mustang twice in the last year.You can hike down to the water from camp. You have to be really careful there is a lot of cliffs around that area that you can get stuck on. I usually walk right through the amphitheater and there is a tiny trail you can use to get down to the water. Good luck!
The campsites on the eastern edge back up against the swimming beach cove and are a nice gentle slope to the water. As you get farther away from the check-in station you get more into rocky areas.
ishing from shore can be very productive in the cove past the swim beach and out in front and in the cove past the boat launch at night or daybreak.
Small bass can be caught with a jig under a bobber like panfish. I use a crawdad rubber bait and slam them from 3’ to 8’ below a slip bobber.
