We headed to Upper Marsh Creek last night, for some early season, open water, burbot madness. It wasn’t mad action, but the weather was pretty cooperative for mid-November. We ended up with 10 burbot, ranging from 12-20 inches, most of which my buddy horsed in. The bulk of the hits were in 20-30ft of water, but we caught one fish around 10ft. The bite was really soft, and felt more like the resistance just before you get a snag!

Like icefishing we were using 1/2-3/8oz jig heads rigged with 4-inch curly tailed grubs or tube jigs in glow-n-the-dark and tipped with sucker or chub. Unlike ice fishing, we moved around using the electric motor and we didn’t have any tip-up flags to watch. Water temps are still 48F, so open-water burbot fishing may be the venue for a while. It was a good time and hope it helps, Ryno
That does help! I was thinking about heading up this weekend and hitting the buckboard area - I will watch the weather and hopefully the wind will cooperate…
Started around 5:30pm and finished around 9:00pm. We had to move around some to get into the fish, finding them back in the bay, just off points. You better get up there and catch you some, so you can stop salivating! Ryno
Terrible. If you are going to tow a boat, I would recommend going up the west side. The Marsh Creek road is getting beat up from all the traffic, and the dust was unreal. Ryno
Very bad. But, just like I have said before. The guides up at the Gorge need to step up and start fishing for burbot. Just imagine how many eggs were saved from the 65 burbot you mentioned.
