FishLake Conditions?

Going to fishlake in the morning. Planning on fishing tommorrow and friday. Has anyone fished it in the last couple days? Wondering access locations for a fourwheeler and also ice conditions? Any other suggestions are appreciated as this is mine and two buddies first time there ice fishing. Thanks.

I was there today. There is a lot of snow in the area and on the ice. The West side actually wasn’t too bad for walking, but as one walked toward the East, the snow on the deck got deeper, and deeper, and deeeeeeper (ugh). A wheeler would probably do poorly in most of these areas. A snowmobile would be fine. The ice is 2 feet thick. There is a fair bit of slush where the snow is deeper, but none in many areas. Access to the lake is fine. They got the roads in good shape today.

For perch, fish at the weedline, 13-18 ft. Fish near the bottom, but some were coming up 4-5 ft. to hit. Small jigs with mealies. For splake, they liked a white jig with perch meat and bows wanted a smaller glow offering tipped with mealworms. Enjoy.

Thanks for the reply. Is there multiple access areas and can I try to get a fourwheeler on at those areas? Im really excited and will enjoy it to the fullest. thanks

Honestly, I would strongly consider leaving the wheeler at home. There is too much snow in too many areas for it to be widely used (IMO). Sorry.

I’ll second that. Even if you can use it on the ice it’s going to be tough getting on and then especially back off. The snow around the lake can be several feet deep. The only area I don’t think that would be a concern is if you pay to park at the Twin Creeks lot or whatever it’s called.

On the perch, I was there last week and found that if I moved out to 25-30 feet I was getting bigger and fatter perch. Not quite as many hits but I still put 50 on the ice in about three hours.

Just my two cents.

PS If you go past the Twin Creeks about a mile there’s a nice pull off on the right with a lot of parking spaces. No way you’re getting a wheeler on there though.
