FISHINMAS EYES

Hit the Bear River in Cache today. I’ve been playing mostly in Idaho this summer with the bass and trout..so I thought I best sneak up on some of my favorite holes close to home. Here’s my biggest Eye this Summer! Still in search for a Utah record out of there~
ENJOY!

Very Nice

Nice eyes. It appears you have the summer eyes dialed in on the bear

Great pictures![;)] I have never caught a Waleye. Been fishing Willard mostly but since I don’t troll I am guessing I am not in the zone by fishing off the bank. Lots of Wiper though!
Care to give up any little secrets?

That’s freakin awesome, nice job Ma! If I could only figure out where those catails behind you are[;)]

It looks like Utah Lake to me

:sunglasses:Nice work lady.

My what big EYES you have! :astonished:

Sheez - you’re scaring me girl! More white curly tails?
I was THIS (fingers touching) close to floating the Bear - after hooking up FISH by the church (first!). Wanted to get back “there” and collect all those bobbers folks had lost!

I think I could have found THOSE EXACT cat-tails. Yup, those very ones alrighty! [;)]

You got my vote (again) - I’ll bet you will! Did you see the Idaho record Walleye catch? I vow - I’m gonna get me one before ice-flies! After a 7/8 species day - I’m on track to fill that niche!!!

Thanks for sharing the pix.

My god, that measured walleye was bigger than my mac yesterday. NICE!!!

The last pic gave me a good laugh too. Awesome work, I have yet to get a walleye. Maybe next spring I will try again. Gotta try Starvation I guess.

Thank You ALL! Walleye are a secret in general! I’ve targeted them pretty hot and heavy since 2006. I fish Oneida Narrows all the way down to the refuge and Willard Bay(trolling is not a favorite of mine.. BORING).
I hooked into 5 Sunday and fished 4 hours hitting 8 favorite holes. I found them 20 ft deep in swirls on the river bends between Benson and Trenton hoofin the banks.
Lure of choice yesterday was split shot 1/2 oz 2 feet above #2 w/nighty bouncing the bottom. They would not take my curly tails and spinners! Bite was VERY light in fact all 5 fish were hooked after 2 or 3 strikes. My fishin buddy did not hook into one yet had strikes…they are tough!
I kept 2 for harvest 14"er 17"er both had empty bellies…which means they are not in Fall munch mode as of yet. Usually Oct is a better bite and they will be in shallower waters taking bigger lures.

Than you for sharing the intel.[;)] Seems like a great way to fish. It reminds me of how we caught Salmon and Steelhead in the North West.
I will have to get out there sometime and give it a shot.

The bite is very similar to Steelies I agree…yet do not set your hook immediately like with Steelies!..you’ll rip the lure out of their mouth (Eye’s like to hold it with their mouth open for a second then they chomp down). Instead I drop the tip of my rod about 4 inches when I feel a strike ..watch my line and if it tightens then set the hook SOFT not like a bass hook set.
Smiley!
