Fishing with my boy in the Uinta's

Inspired by TDT and ETDT’s posts I talked my boy into one last hike and fish before the snow starts flying, he wasn’t all too excited about going but he did. We left around 11 am and started hiking about 12:30.
I am still captivated by the beauty of the Mirror lake area!

The fishing started off slow but my son got first fish and biggest brook honors!

We tried another lake nearby and I caught this little beautiful brook, amazing colors.

At this lake I only caught three brooks so we headed back to the first lake and thing started picking up, my son wasn’t too happy I caught the first grayling because he had already announced his intention to out fish me today.

He caught his first right after and look at the florescent blue colors in the fin!

Best pic I took unfortunately due to the buggers won’t flare that fin when they are out of the water and of course it stirred up the shore as I was taking pics. The fishing exploded after the sun set and my son wanted to try my fly rod, he caught his first fish on a fly rod and it brought me back to all those Christmas mornings. Been a long time since I have seen that much excitement!

More pics.

Gratuitous food shot, if you have not tried this you need to! It is awesome

The fishing was awesome and we left only because we had a 3 mile hike out and it was getting dark. We caught 12 fish total and would have caught more if I didn’t suck at casting a fly rod:blush:.
