Fishing Uintas Question

I am going to backpack into the area of Wall lake back to Twin Lakes, Clyde Lake, etc. Does anyone know which lakes would be the best for fishing and camping in that area?

Thanks

I am vary familiar with that area.

There are decent camp sites at all those lakes, but they are HEAVILY used. There is virtually no firewood anymore. There’s a good chance to see lots of scouts.

Wall Lake has the potential for bigger fish. For me that has not been my favorite fishing lake because it is usually slow. However, I have had a few good times there and the biggest fish I have ever seen it the Uintas came from there (18 inch brookie).

Clyde Lake is ALWAYS fast fishing for smaller brookies. Good for kids and a fish fry. Later in the year it is good with flies. I have seen the lake literally boil with fish. Unbelievable!

Twin Lakes. Lots of pressure there, both fishing and camping. I avoid it.

Sent you a PM too.

I would camp at Twin lakes, then walk over to Clyde for some fly fishing.

You didn’t mention if you were taking small children. If not, and you’re in good shape, I suggest you hike over Notch Pass (great view) and around the mountain to Ibantik Lake. More solitude and maybe better fishing. It’s well worth the extra hiking.

Thanks for the info. We don’t have any small children going, so we are a bit tempted to hike notch, but one guy with us is a bit out of shape (me). But I am up for any challenge as I love to hike.

When I went up there several years back, Clyde was the only lake that produced a good number of fish. We camped near the shore there. Lots of mosquitos!

We went in to Ibantik weekend before last and we’re going in with the grandkids this coming weekend. The fishing was fair. The trail was drifted with snow in many places but I expect it is clear now. Say hi if you see us. 6 in our party. 1 is old guy with white moustache. Orange Marmot tent.
Have a great hike.
