fishing line help

what some of your recomendations on fishing line and 6 or 8 lb test what you think ? I usually fish eyes @ cats for the most part

Lighter line will produce more bites, just will have too fight the fish out and not horse it. We use 6 lb to troll and lose a few if we don’t stop the boat. Never was one too use heavier line. When we fish for Yellowfin tuna others are using 100 lb to 150 lb and weuse 50 lb and have no problems with fish upto 250 lbs and more

thanks i was thinkin lighter just for the challenge didnt think about the bite. what a fav brand ? i liked vanish

Excalibur Silver Thread. I love the stuff.

Suffix mono and braid

i dont like braid. for some resone it allways brakes on me . if your going for cats i like 12lb berkly trilene xt. ive never had a cat break me off and ive caught them up to 30lbs . just let the drag do the work…

i only use 3 kinds of line.. first and foremost is trilene big game in the green from 4# to 20# depending on what fish i’m fishing for and how.. berkly vanish for icefishing again from 2# to 15#..

P-LINE for fishing mac’s..

I use Excalibur Silver Thread in #6 and #8- it’s a copolymer line that’s strong, casts well, and is abrasion resistant. I use P-Line Fluoroclear for drop-shotting.

If I’m using a top water I like mono, and for jig & pig I like braid, and for cranks and jek baits I like mon…for all mono I like Andy best…

For the kittys & walleyes & trout Excaliber Silver Thread,6# to 20# Copolymer

For trolling Power Pro 30# with P- Line 15# leader Fluorocarbon The best set up I have ever used for trolling
never had a brake off !!!

Fuzzy,
I’ve only seen Trilene Big Game in 10# and heavier. Do you order them online?

I’ve had great success with PLine FlouroClear and Stren Magnathin. I would spool your catfish rod with 8# line and put the 6# line on the walleye rod. If you prefer braided, try the PowerPro line, but use a flourocarbon leader if you use the PowerPro for walleyes.
