FISHING DERBY ON BEAR LAKE

We are having a non profit Bear Lake Lake Trout fishing derby this Saturday, September 24th. It will be a catch and release derby so registration is needed to get set up.

This derby will require you to have either an iPhone or Android and service provider would be best with Verizon or AT&T. Sprint doesn’t work well in this neck of the woods.

This derby has a return of 60% for that angler that catches the longest lake trout. 2nd Place takes home 30% and 3rd Place takes home 10%. The money is split on all ties.

It starts anywhere from 7am-11am and goes until 6pm. It will be mandatory that I receive back all pics prior to 6pm.

Feel free to contact me through this site or through my mobile at 435-757-9430. Once again it is a non-profit tourney and those that win should win big. The more the contestants the better the prices so get involved soon. I am limited with the number of contestants so it will be set at 49.

Please pass along this info however you are able to do so!

I really like your entry fee schedule.
You are not penalizing the guy who fishes on his own by charging the full team rate.
Very considerate!
Wish I could enter but I have a Scout camping trip to help with, I hope your tourney goes well.

I try to keep things entertaining for all ages and abilities. I wish you would have been able to make it but next time! I will be doing another derby that will run for about 3 days starting in December 12th. It is for the Bonneville whitefish. I will try to keep this site posted for that derby date as well.

Hey it’s great to have you on line with us at Big Fish, over the years you have gotten a lot of good comments from members that enjoy your shop and appreciate your reports from time to time to keep us up to date with lake conditions and ice and etc… Also like your willingness to open up the shop and help out an angler that gets to the lake without the needed gear… Hope you enjoy the board… Later J

I totally agree. Darin has been good about helping you out with whatever you need. Always good help.

Never fished for whites there but it is on my to-do list.
I really screwed up and did not go up during that freakish warm spell we had a few years ago.
I assume lodging is easily obtained/affordable in December?
I will keep an eye out for your whitefish derby.
Thank you.

So what was the winning fish for the contest?

It was a tough day with that low that came in and slowed the fishing down dramatically. The winning fish was 30-1/2" 2nd was 26-1/2" and 3rd 19". We had 9 groups that went out with 4 more that had to cancel with unseen issues.

All in all it was fun but it was aggravating to not go out and have a good fishing day. Thanks to all of those that participated and we are looking forward to the Bonneville Whitefish run that I will be running around Dec 15-17th. It may be a week earlier but I will update when that happens.
