Fish Lake

A group of people along with myself will be headed down to Fish Lake next week and I would like to know if anyone has any updates or helpful hints? What are the ice conditions? Thanks for any responses.

We have weather moving through right now and it will probably be windy and snowing until friday night. Most likely it will be windy Saturday in the wake of the storms. We are supposed to get 10"+ in the mountains.

Last weekend the slush was starting to form. Windy as hell, fishing was great. If you stay on the highway side, you won’t have to go too far out (150’ or so) to get to the edge of the weeds. 14-18" of ice on the south end. I have not been to the north end, which took much longer to freeze this year. Rumor is 8" of ice.

White jigs and perchmeat for the splake in 30-50’ of water. Small jigs and about any bait for the perch next to the weeds.

Good luck.

A little north of Joe Bush eight to fifteen inches of ice.
From Joe Bush south to almost Twin Creek eight inches or there about.
Last Sat. all the snow that was on the ice had been water flushed and frozen solid. Ice was pretty slick. If it does not snow I would recommend ice cleats.. (maybe even if it does snow.)
Rainbows for the last few weeks have seemed to be 15’ to 25’ below the ice. Lots of them with a few splake mixed in. If you want splake 35’ or so water fishing 2’ to 5’
off the bottom has worked well for us.
Fishing has been fast until about noon or so then slows down some.
Kastmasters, pink jigs, red and white jigs, all tipped with meal worm crawler or perch seem to do well.

Hey thanks guys! I appreciate the info. Me and some friends usually do a once a year fishing trip to fish lake and have always had an enjoyable time. Super excited, and way excited to implement those suggestions.
Thanks!
