Fish Lake Questions

Me and two of my sons are heading to Fish Lake for a 4 day trip. This is my first time fishing this lake and would love any tips. I have an 18 ft fishing boat and will be shoreline camping (or as close as we can get away with). I hear the the mack fishing is pretty good and the fish fairly sizeable. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

And to all of you who helped me with tracking down a decent location to take my boys camping I wanted to say thank you. You guys are great.

you could not have picked a better spot! [sly] it realy is a very nice lake!

well jiging works good for the mac’s and well let’s just say most all the game fish in there can be cought on jig’s.. lol.

4" to 6" pearl tube jig’s work about as good as any.. tip them with a smal strip of perch (ya can catch all ya need there at the lake) or if you can find some sucker meat thats good to.. there are some suckers in the lake but not easy to catch..

trolling popgear and worm works good for the rainbow’s.. i have found spoons flatfish and other trolling stuff works good as well..

if your into night fishing and want to have some fun get some glow buzz-bombs 2" put a chunk of perch on and jig for some splak they will hit all night long! ..

good luck to ya and have fun!

From now until the spawn, the macs are going to be caught deep, 50 feet down to about 80 or more. When they are in summer mode your best bet is to slow troll minnows or like fuzzy said jig for them. This is really a tough time of year for them, they get tight lipped when the water warms up, i only had one good hookup last time i went on July 11th.
The splake can still be caught jigging off the weedline in 25-55 feet, the rainbows are just about everywhere and can be caught with a pop gear and worm combo.
