Fish Lake Advice Needed....

Hello…Brand new member and looking forward to a trip to Fish Lake. Never been there and need advice on which boat to take.
I have a choice of a 14’ aluminum with 15hp motor, or my 20’ with 150 hp (and kicker) that I used for salmon trolling in Seattle. It has Penn electric downriggers, etc.
Is the 20’ boat too big for Fish Lake?
Thanks in advance for ANY advice !!!

20’ Boat with downriggers would be great if your going to target the mack’s if not the 14’ would be fine for jigging for perch, splack, small lakers, and trolling for the rainbows. I have a 17.5 I put on there. the marina’s are very shallow so keep the motor tilted up a bit tell your well out of the marina’s I like the lodge ramp the best, Bowery ramp is very steep and hard to trailer the boat. launched from the first marina you get to last year and it was about like launching from the lodge. just make sure you keep your motor tilted up!!! a little.
Main lake is fine except the far North and far South ends get shallow quick. and I mean really quick at times.
Fish the edges of the weed bed that circles the lake with pearl white 3" tube jigs tipped with perch meat for splake, 1/8 oz plain jig with a worm right on the weed line will catch you the perch. troll the east side and the middle of the lake for rainbows, pop gear and a worm and you will catch them all day if you like 12" fish. for the barbie.

Have fun and good luck fishing.
Welcome to the site to!!!

I was just there. Take the bigger boat because will be nicer when the wind is blowing and getting a little rough. The water us super high there this year.I did not have a problem launching from Bowery it is nicer with high water. They have the cheapest boat slips there also only$10/day.

Thanks to both of you for the advice. I will take the bigger boat with riggers. Now I just have to find cabin rentals that allow for our little sea-dog !!!

Bowery haven allows dogs at the cabins. I had three of them with me.

20" fter is perfect. Popgear and a worm with sharp hooks is the ticket, the bite is soft, so be ready. You will have to fight thru the dinks for bigger ones. The steak dinner at bowery is good, and make a run down to capital reef, worth the 45 min trip why your already that far!!!
