Yeah I read it over and over lol… I have the 12" no problem from the prop… It’s just not 12" to either side of it… It’s about 6" to the left and 22" behind it… Really sucks I have no option but there or get a through hull transducer which I hear aren’t as good… Trolling motor mount is a option but I haven’t got a trolling motor yet… Not sure if I wanna buy one yet either.. For my boat it’s pretty big and bulky and gonna take more serious modding to work since I have hand rails in the way…:(. I’ll snap a pic tomorrow from a few feet back.. I’ll place a blue piece of masking tape where I can put it so you guys have a better idea…
Btw forgot to mention… It’s pretty much where your picture says poor angle… It’s that location but I would mount it level of course not at that angle…
I’ll snap a picture where mine is mounted at tomorrow and post it. (I can’t see your pics from work. Lots of web places blocked on the work server.) Dead center is suppose to be a no no. Could also interfere with water intake into the motor amongst other stuff. Mine is 14" or so offset to one side and when I am on a plane going full speed the top of it is out of the water but the middle to bottom is submerged. 100% perfect location for my boat. I get perfect depth readings at any speed.
Mounting it on a trolling motor wouldn’t be a good idea at all. No depth readings unless the TM is deployed.
I just snapped a couple pics on my way to work… The green tape is where I need to mount it… If that’s not gonna work I think I have to buy a second one to get my side imagining…
I am thinking it should be mounted at the next runner over. The center of my 898 Transducer is 13" over from the center of the boat. What is on the other side of the motor? oem depth gauge transducer? That spot or distance out from center looks more appropriate.
That’s the speedo cable I believe… If I move it out from the prop I have to raise it up… I can’t go but a 1/2" higher because the out drive will block the view… Arrrr I’ll take a pic with it trimmed down… I have about 4" from the lowest part of the hull to the outdrive… Sucks haha…

Mines not to far off from what you got… Looking at your first 2 pix I’m in the same general area but like 3 or 4 inches to the left… “closer to center” I guess all I can do is try ya know… I’m not scared to drill the transom I can do fiberglass work and custom paint if it don’t work out… That’s a piece of cake… Lol
You don’t want it sticking out under the bottom since water hitting it would cause it to pop up. It doesn’t need a view forward at all. Just room behind the motor across the sides to get SI. If your motor is blocking it when down that doesn’t really matter either since you can’t get SI going faster than 5mph. Just raise the motor a pinch when trolling, etc to get a good side shot.
My motor is almost all the way down as it sits in these pics. I can’t put it all the way down in the garage w/o hitting the floor. Very close though.
A stainless steel prop makes a world of difference too. Spendy suckers though. Worth it. Plus you can just store the aluminum in the boat somewhere and call it the spare. [;)]
Your almost at the point where you need to get it on the water and head out full speed then take a look at the back end and see what is in water and what isn’t. Then you would have a better idea for the mounting location. As mine sits when I am at full speed cruising I can reach down and touch the top of it and not get wet. The sides and bottom are in the water though.
Agreed 100%… Yeah the side imagining is what is screwing it all up… If it doesn’t work over 5mph that makes it a little easier like you said… I’ll give it a shot and see the worst that can happen is it don’t work and I’ll have to buy a second one… Btw thanks for all your help..
SI/DI and sonar (200 and 83khz) are usless above 5mph (You might be able to get a decent image say up to 5.5mph maybe even closer to 6 if the conditions are right). Only thing you will get when faster than that is depth readings.

I’ll give it a shot and see what happens… If it can be done on my boat I’ll figure it out… I have been doing custom fab work for 20 years for a living so nothing is out of the question… I can build anything from any material and I have all the equipment to do it lol… I think I’m more bummed about losing my beer holder to mount the head unit now haha… Time to get down to business and get this thing put in and make it look factory no hack jobs here…[fishon]
I even found this pic of a home made bracket they used on a pontoon boat with similar problems… This would be super easy to build…
Pontoon = SLOOOOOW. At full speed in your boat you’d rip the transducer off the rear of the boat. lol

That’s a really cool video… I didnt get to install my system today I had to get my priorities straight… I went and got tags for the boat and trailer instead haha… Hopefully tomorrow I get that thing put in… Sat looks nasty and windy but Sunday might be good if there is no wind… A little rain never hurt anything only makes the fishing better… Haha
