I’ve been laid up and still pretty busy with other obligations(school) since this happened: http://www.bigfishtackle.com/forum/Utah_Fishing_Forum_C55/gforum.cgi?post=694300;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;page=unread#unread
But… yesterday was fall break and while I’m not yet 100% I’m not going to let that stop me from getting into some great fall fishing.
Got to the lake about 9, not an early start by any means, but there was a two hour drive involved. Once there I rig up and make my first cast. One quick hit. Swing and a miss! Followed by another quick hit. Set the hook. Slack! Forgot to cut back the dirty braid from last trip before I put my mono leader on and it broke at the knot. [frown]
Get everything rigged up again. A couple casts with no hits and its time to head to my favorite spot on the other side of the lake.
15 - 20 minutes of walking later and I’m there. Cast. Start reeling… Line isn’t coming in! Something broke in my reel and the bail wont stay closed. Begin the walk back to get my buddy’s extra rod since I didn’t think it was necessary to bring my own like I normally do. [frown]
I get back to the car and my buddy’s extra rod has about 15 ft of line left on the reel. I begin the process of re-spooling his reel… Finally get everything rigged up and its probably 10:15 by now. I make a test cast and 4 or 5 big cuts are following my Jake’s all the way in but no takers. Next cast. Wham! Fish on! ![]()
The rest is history. Spent the next 3 hours catching nice cut after nice cut. Smallest was probably 13" biggest 18" and the average was somewhere around 16" [fishin]
