Finally some Willard Walleyes

Decided to spend today out at Willard. Had the plan to try for some eyes, but while waiting for my parents to get to the lake, headed over to the north end to try my luck. Setting up bottom bouncers and saw some boiling going on near the shore. Pulled up and threw a jig out and immediately got a wiper. Only about 8 inches, but it was immediate. That continued for about an hour. All were about 8-10 inches, but caught probably 40 fish. Fun time.

Went and picked up parents and moved out to troll. Spent about 2 hours trolling before the trolling motor battery died on us. Ended up with 6 in the boat, losing one other at the net. Not too bad for our first time trying for walleye at Willard. Going to make a nice meal tomorrow night.

Highly doubt it will be as successful the next time we go out, but made for a great day today. Heres to a long summer for hitting the water.

There are a bunch of those young wipers in Willard right now, you are the third or fourth member to post a report about getting into them and catching 30 or 40. I just hope someone doesn’t keep them or they will never get a change to grow big enough to get some shoulders on them.
Sounds like you got your parents there on a good day, hopefully there will be many more like that one .

Ha ha - that’s funny. You found a Wiper Teen keg Party - like a hot tub orgy. Frisky young Wipers just don’t know any better, but it’s fun to get together and thrash around the rocks anyways.

Nice eye’s. Seems you got on 'em good. I SO need to get my sorry self onto some Walleye waters!

Thanks for posting the encouragement.
Party one\ dudes!!!

bmitchell, very nice!
I am jealous. Was there friday and fished over 6 hours and got beat up pretty bad. I did catch one wiper around the 4 lb. mark or so but it was my only hit of the day.
Once again, very very jealous.
